Seasons come and seasons go. And when it’s winter, I’m cold.
This past winter was no different. I was froze to the bone. I begged my friends to take a trip with me to someplace warm. Please! We met to begin planning, and by the end of the week, they decided on Mount Magazine, Arkansas.
What?
I’m not sure what happened to the “warm”. Okay, so everything is relative. When the temperature was stretching for the negative single digits in northern Alaska, Mount Magazine did at least reach the freezing point. It wasn’t exactly the tropics that I envisioned, though.
It was my idea to go, so it was my duty to make the reservations. When I called, the receptionist warned there could be black ice covering the winding roads. And no ma’am, there are no guard rails to stop your car from sliding off the side of the mountain.
What??
Panic set in. The nightmares began. And so did my new prayer request. “Please let the weather be too bad to go. Please let it snow. Please. Please. I’ll sit right here and be happy, happy, happy.”
My prayer was answered. It snowed and we couldn’t go! I kept my end of the bargain with God. I was happy, happy, happy. Cold. But happy.
It’s May now, and today is a stormy kind of day, but at least it’s warm. We might even reach 80 degrees. This is my kind of weather, and I don’t want to waste a day of the pleasant temperatures.
There’s one thing I try not to forget. Seasons come and seasons go.

Ecclesiastes 3 says, For everything there is a season…a time to be born…a time to die, to plant, to harvest, …to grieve, to dance, …to be quiet, to speak, …Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time.

My spotlight artist this week is Dion Pickett.
Dion is an amateur photographer. She lives in Dalton, Arkansas, with her husband, Brian and their son, Colton.
She began to explore photography while taking afternoon walks near her home in the foothills. She immediately fell in-love with the images that she captured of the Eleven Point River, the beautiful sunsets, and the open scenery. Her favorite photographs are those of her pets.
Dion says “It gives me pleasure to look at the photos, and when other people feel the same way about my photos, it’s quite inspiring.”
