Larry is building a man cave.
This man cave is a work in progress. He has spent his spare time for almost a year hanging tongue and groove pine paneling, building the loft, ladder, and the like.
It’s certainly different than the treehouses of a boy’s youth with an “NO GIRLS ALLOWED” sign posted at the entrance. Do boys still build them like they did on the Andy Griffith Show, Leave it to Beaver, or My Three Sons?
His man cave is 320 SQ. ft. T.I.N.Y. That’s what it is – a tiny house. They’re popular these days. Hard to believe but it’s big enough for a bathroom with shower, kitchen complete with stove and refrigerator, a bedroom, and living and dining area. The loft areas, two, he decided, can sleep six. He has informed me it will have a recliner and TV.
He isn’t aware it will also have quilts and curtains. Yeah, well I’ve got more Aunt Bea from the Andy Griffith Show in me than he has Opie or Andy. Or Barney!
My presence won’t be “by invitation only”. Who would clear out the clutter every once and a while?
So it’s not a man cave.
I’m trying to decide how I can use it when he hasn’t staked claim to the porch that is close enough to cast a fishing line in the pond filled with bass. Maybe I might do Monday soup night Bible studies there. I could fix it up real cute with flowers and pretty pillows and …Nah… I don’t want to encourage the sign.
He will continue to call it a man cave, but I’m still considering what I will call it.
For now, it’s still a work in progress, but he is far enough along that I can tell that the finished product is going to be nice.
That’s what I am – work in progress. At least, I know what I’m called. Melissa, Grace Warrior, child of the King. Only God knows what my future will look like, but God promises me it’s good. All God’s children share that hope with me.
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. Philippians 1:6
