My Right Hand Never Fails
If you want a laugh for the day, brush your teeth with the opposite hand (I use my right hand) and see what happens. Better yet, go on Facebook Live and share with the world! When my toothbrush slipped up my nose, I could not stop laughing creating another problem. Ladies—you know what I’m sayin’!
Now, this experiment was not out of boredom or depression—I simply lost the use of my right hand.
My dominate right hand never let me down until carpel tunnel changed my life. Months of experiencing typical symptoms like nerve pain, numbness and weakness left me with one good hand. As a result, I quickly discovered my incoordination and how much I took my right hand for granted.
This disability brought my world to a halt. As a life coach, author, and speaker, much of my time is typing on the computer or phone. And, as a wife, easy household responsibilities require two working hands, so my house and hungry husband suffered through it. As a grandma, even pouring after-school chocolate milk, ended in disaster.
God used this time
When I learned that surgery was urgent and not optional, I questioned God’s timing.
“Why, God is this happening now? Don’t you see I am preparing for our annual Christian Communicators Conference? Don’t you know people are counting on me?
He heard my cry and impressed this in my spirit—Get ready for 40 Days of Communion with Me.
Okay. God, I’m listening
My 40 days of communion began the day after surgery. I wasn’t wandering like the Israelites or being tempted like Jesus—simply fellowship and harmony with my loving Lord. He directed. I listened. I also longed to journal every scripture and the meaning. While unable to lift a pencil, I placed sticky notes near the daily scriptures to revisit the path we closely walked on for 40 days.
An amazing revelation
During our 40 Days of Communion, the word HAND daily appeared in scripture or my devotional pointing to Jesus—God’s right hand.
“HOLD MY HAND—AND TRUST. So long as you are conscious of My Presence with you, all is well. It is virtually impossible to stumble while walking in the Light with Me…Don’t be surprised by how easily you sin when you forget to cling to My hand. The world equates dependency with immaturity. But in My kingdom, dependence on Me is a prime measure of maturity.” – Jesus Calling by Sarah Young
“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.” Psalm 62:5 NLT
Jesus—God’s Right Hand
Contention with my right hand led to communion with the Right Hand—Jesus. My Right Hand never fails. Especially relevant, numerous blessings accompanied our time together, and they continue as we join hands on the journey of life.
So, what challenges do you face today?
In conclusion, how can God use it to draw you closer to Him?
Your Right Hand will never fail.
