Moms & More.
I had the opportunity to speak this week at the WBC Moms & More luncheons. These meetings are buffet-fellowship-be encouraged-help others style get-togethers. A team of lovely women dressed in homemade aprons always greet the guests with a smile and an individual pack of M&Ms. Tonya Bolton is a marvelous host with the heart of a servant. There are both Tuesday evening meals and Wednesday noon meals held to best accommodate the attendees.
The stated mission of Moms & More is:
To provide encouragement to all women in every season of life, to gather at the table for fellowship, and to reach out to our communities in service.
Sharing the seasons of a woman’s heart.
This school year’s theme was the Seasons of a Woman’s Heart. Utanah Williams began the school year by sharing stories of God’s faithfulness during difficult seasons of her life. In November, Andrea Lennon of True Vine Ministry focused on discovering how to experience Christmas peace. Then, in February, Elizabeth Howell of Gunk to Glory emphasized how today matters.
Standing in the gap.
This meeting’s theme was Standing in the Gap for Children. So, I began my speeches on Tuesday and Wednesday with a couple of examples of when God used different people with unique talents and experiences to intervene on behalf of my grandchildren. I then discussed how, by God’s design, he chose us to be together in this one season of life on his eternal timeline to encourage and help one another. You can hear my speech in entirety here or search YouTube for Melissa Kirk Moms and More. I’ve also included the video below.
Guests began the year bringing donations for the backpack program, and ended the season bringing slightly used or new shoes – all for the benefit of school-age children.
Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. I John 3:18 nlt
For this week’s meetings, the ladies were also invited to bring pictures of children to post on a dedication board. The sessions ended with a prayer for both the children in the pictures and for the unknown children who would wear the donated shoes.
Don’t miss opportunities.
You can keep up with Moms & More on their Facebook page. If you live in the area and have the opportunity, consider going to one of the fellowships. They have both an evening and a noon-time event.
I encourage you to look for opportunities to fellowship at similar type events. God has called us to build relationships. I can think of no better way to begin and grow a rapport than to share a meal with another woman. Sharing and caring – through all the seasons in their lives.
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. I Thessalonians 5:11 nlt
Don’t forget.
My novel, Running From Asperity, releases on May 01 and is available for pre-order here. Read about Linda, a woman who is experiencing a difficult season in her life and discover how she responds.
