A Grace Warrior is what I want to be.
My definition of a Grace Warrior is: A child of God, who handles Kingdom business with dignity and determination. For the last two years, I have focused on that statement. I’ve got the child of God part down pat – only because it didn’t require any work on my part. If so, I would have messed it up royally. No, only my faith in the work of Jesus Christ allows me to become a child of God. The Almighty King. Who has a kingdom. And that’s where I start having difficulty with the Grace Warrior definition.
Kingdom business.
I always have good intentions when I’m handling Kingdom business, but with dignity and determination aren’t always the case. More often than not, weak and passive reign the day. Words like uncertain, and insignificant also come to mind. I’m easily frustrated when I don’t wear the definition of a Grace Warrior well. That’s why these words from this week’s Bible study jumped off the page at me.
“Remember, our first calling is not to build the kingdom, but to pray for the kingdom to come.” Kingdom, Come! By Phil Ryken.
We are supposed to build the kingdom. We should handle the business in a dignified manner. Determination to get up every morning and serve God is of the utmost importance.
But it isn’t our first calling.
Building the Kingdom is the work of God and he has it down pat.
“For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.” Colossians 1:13 NLT
Praying is our first calling.
“Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.” Colossians 4:2 NLT
How important is prayer?
“Never stop praying.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 NLT
I want to always be a Grace Warrior. But I must never forget to be a Prayer Warrior first. Prayer will focus my mind on the King and the grace he gives me to do what he has called me to do. It is only by his grace that dignity can be found. It is only from his grace that determination gains any strength and momentum.
