Advent’s love is life changing.
Advent’s love is real. Like hope, peace, and joy, it is a gift from God to anyone who will accept it.
Love’s greatest expression was Jesus’ sacrifice in our place for our sins. To love God is our greatest expression in return.
Have you experienced God’s love in your life? If so, are you sharing that love with someone else? God said that his greatest commandment is to love him and the second is to love your neighbor.
Love changes how God sees us.
The Bible says he will never abandon the godly.
“For the Lord loves justice, and he will never abandon the godly. He will keep them safe forever, but the children of the wicked will die.” Psalm 37:28 NLT
Love changes God’s focus.
God says that he delights in his children.
“For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17 NLT
Love changes how we see ourselves.
We are dead to ourselves and we trust Christ.
“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 NLT
Love changes our daily lives.
We love our enemies and those who hurt us.
“But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you.” Luke 6:27 NLT
Because Jesus’ power is so transforming, I hope you take the time this final week to reflect on and accept Advent’s love.
