True Love
In a world filled with superficial definitions of love, it’s important to understand true love as outlined in the Bible. True love goes beyond mere feelings; it is sacrificial, selfless, and unconditional.

God’s Unconditional Love
Most certainly, we find the ultimate example of true love in God’s unconditional love for humanity. A love freely given to all who believe in Him and not based on our worthiness or deserving nature..
As a result and as recipients of this divine love, we love others in the same selfless and sacrificial manner, without conditions or expectations.

2. The Love of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ’s life and teachings exemplify true love in action. Jesus demonstrated the ultimate act of selflessness by laying down His life on the cross for the salvation of humanity. Love manifested through His actions and not limited to words.
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13
Surely as Christians, we should follow His example by loving others sacrificially, even to the point of laying down our lives for them metaphorically through acts of service, compassion, and forgiveness.

3. The Love of the Prodigal Son’s Father
The parable of the prodigal son in the book of Luke beautifully illustrates the unconditional and forgiving nature of this love. Despite his son’s rebellion and wasteful living, the father welcomed him back with open arms. Obviously, he displayed a love that transcended the son’s shortcomings. This parable teaches us about the power of forgiveness and the importance of extending grace and love to those who have wronged us.
Undoubtedly, as followers of Christ, we are called to embody this love in all our relationships, mirroring God’s example.
In conclusion, selflessness, sacrifice, forgiveness, and unconditional acceptance are the markings of the biblical perspective of genuine love. If you need help navigating these special tasks of true love, contact Melissa Kirk, The Grace Warrior, for guidance.
